Engine 6 and Brush 6 were first to the scene of a grass fire at Riverbend Ponds Natural Area off Timberline and Prospect this afternoon. "We've seen a dramatic change in the area," said a ranger on scene referring to the dryness of the area. Some of the fire had burned itself out when crews arrived, but it was still working its way through the brush. Fire can travel at up to 14 mph through grasslands, but the quick attack and containment by firefighters kept the area involved to about 120' by 25'.
