EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS MONTH: Do you and your family have an emergency plan in place if a disaster strikes your home or place of business? If not, make a plan of how to evacuate or shelter in place, identify a safe place where you’re going to meet each other, and figure out how you’re going to communicate with each other. Also, make sure to print copies of this plan, including medical and dietary needs, in case your family is separated during a disaster. Keep copies in work laptop bags and children’s backpacks. Additionally, keep an emergency preparedness kit in your house and car. Next, practice the plan with your family so that if a disaster occurs, you’ll be prepared.
